im 18 yrs old and i just got a gym membership. im not looking to loose weight just want to get toned. what would be the best routine for me?

The best workout is going to be the one that you know you’ll be willing to keep doing. Just like most diets, most kinds of exercise can work and do great things for your bodies. The reasons they fail so often aren’t that they don’t work… it’s that people try them, find that they don’t enjoy them, and start finding excuses to avoid them.
Ideally you’re going to want a mix of strength training and cardio workouts, so think a little bit about what sort of person you are. Do you enjoy doing things in groups and having people to laugh and chat with after a workout? Your gym may have group aerobics or spin classes that you would enjoy. Or, do you prefer to exercise alone so that you can get into a groove and zone out? Something like cycling or running on a treadmill may suit you better.
For strength workouts I’m not sure exactly what equipment you have available, but most gyms will make someone available to new members to show them how to use the equipment properly and give them a few suggestions on what to try. Even if your gym doesn’t do that, it’d be worth your while to pay for one session with a personal trainer to set up a program of strength exercises for you and show you the equipment. Using that stuff wrong can end in very painful injuries, so paying a one time fee to make sure that you’re not going to hurt yourself trying to get into shape is a very worthwhile use of your money.
